01Do impact windows lower my homeowners insurance in Florida?
They can. Florida insurers offer wind-mitigation credits for opening protection, and impact-rated windows are one of the features a wind-mitigation inspection looks for. The credit depends on your carrier and on protecting every opening, so we hand over the product approval documentation your inspector will ask for.
02Do I need a permit to replace windows in Manatee or Sarasota County?
Yes. Window replacement is permitted work here, and the permit is tied to the specific approved product going into the specific opening. It also matters at resale — unpermitted window work is the kind of thing an inspection surfaces at the worst moment.
03What is the difference between retrofit and full-frame replacement?
Retrofit sets a new unit into the existing frame and is faster and cheaper. Full-frame takes the old frame out entirely and lets us inspect and rebuild the opening. Which one is right depends on the condition of what is behind the trim, which is why we probe before quoting.
04What happens if you find rot when the old window comes out?
We show you, and we repair the opening before the new unit goes in. Setting a window into a soft sill is how a brand-new window leaks in year three — the unit is rarely the failure, the opening is.
05Will my house be left open overnight?
No. We work opening by opening and close every one the same day it is opened. A whole-house replacement is disruptive when it is sequenced badly and manageable when it is not.
06What is Florida product approval, and why does it matter?
Every window installed here has to carry an approval showing it is rated for the design pressures at your address and elevation. It is what the inspector verifies and what your insurer credits — a window without it is not a code-compliant window, whatever the showroom says.
